Test Subjects

Listed below are fictitious test subjects that can be used to test TransUnion services by sending an inquiry to the TransUnion standard test region. There are two ways to send a service inquiry to the TransUnion standard test region.

  1. Use a test subscriber code — use your assigned test subscriber code (a subscriber code with a market "06," and a submarket "22" or "TR") to send an inquiry to the TransUnion system, which will automatically route the transaction to the test region. TransUnion encourages you to use your test subscriber codes for testing.
  2. Use a production subscriber code — use your production subscriber code to send an inquiry to the TransUnion test region for testing. When using the production subscriber code for testing, please follow the rules below:
    • Make sure to have a value 1 in the Special Routing Indicator field, position 6 of the TU4I segment in the FFI.
    • Make sure that the Subscriber Password, position 47 of the TU4I segment in the FFI, is PSWD instead of the one you would use for a production transaction.

Requesting test cases

Please review the ready-to-use test subjects on this page before submitting a request for custom test subjects. If you do not find what you need on this page, follow these steps to request test subjects:

  1. Complete the Test Data Request form.
  2. Submit the request by attaching it to an email, leaving the body of the email blank, and sending it to: customer.testing@transunion.com.

Note: The Test Data Request form standardizes and simplifies test data requests and helps ensure TransUnion receives complete and accurate information in the correct format. This aligns expectations, reduces rework and errors, and prevents delays caused by missing details—resulting in faster turnaround times and an improved customer experience.

Never use real consumer information for testing.
